Two men, one Abee Wakas Dimba and his brother, who were on their way to their late father’s funeral, were killed in Bawku on October 27, 2024 in the recent flare up of violence in the area.
Several others were injured following a renewed tensions in a longstanding chieftaincy dispute in the area.
Tensions in the area heightened when rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre, who had been in exile since his installation last year in Nalerigu, returned to Bawku after the Kumasi High Court revoked his arrest warrant on October 17, 2024.
According to the Ghana Police, it has teamed up with the Ghana Armed Forces to bring the security situation in Bawku and its surrounding areas under control.
Eight people are said to have been killed with the Ministry of Interior having imposed a curfew on the area.
