Six Muslim players were in the Black Stars starting line-up for their 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola in Luanda.
The Match which took place at the Estadio 11 De Novembro ended 1-1 ending all chances of the team making it to the AFCON.
The Muslim players that started were: Goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Ibrahim Sulemana.
Jordan Ayew, captain on the day gave the Black Stars the lead with a long range freekick 18 minutes into the game. The team had a number of missed chances before conceding against the hosts in the 64th minute.
It is instructive to note that Manaf saved a penalty to keep Ghana in the lead when the score was one-nil.

For the first time since 2004, the Black Stars of Ghana will miss out on the continent’s biggest football tournament.
The tournament is slated to be held in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.
