Two Muslims elevated to full professor status by University of Ghana

Two Muslim academicians at the University of Ghana have been promoted to the status of full professors.

The two are Prof. Mahmoud Abdulai Mahmoud and Prof. Sanda Mohammed-Aminu.

The University of Ghana Council approved the promotion of the two along with three other distinguished faculty members from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) in recognition of their exceptional contributions to research and teaching. The promotions, announced on 19th December 2024, include two full professors and three associate professors.

Prof. Mahmoud Abdulai Mahmoud, Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

He has been promoted to full professor in Marketing. His research focuses on strategic marketing, with a focus on market orientation, corporate social responsibility, and firm performance.

Prof. Abdulai’s work has been published in renowned international journals, including the European Journal of Innovation Management, Journal of Strategic Marketing, and the Services Industry Journal.

He is also an Associate Research Fellow at the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies and a member of the International Academy of African Business Development (IAABD). Additionally, he has facilitated numerous training sessions on sales and negotiation skills through EDS-UGBS and British collaborations.

Prof. Sanda Mohammed-Aminu, Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management

He has been promoted to full professor in Human Work Science. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden and has held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with the Industrial Work Environment Specialised Unit at the same institution.

His research has contributed significantly to the development of an innovative work organisation model for the “Intelligent Deep Mine,” aimed at predicting and managing the work environments of future deep mines.

List of associate Professors

Dr. Saint Kuttu, promoted to Associate Professor of Financial Risk Management in the Department of Finance.

Dr. Raphael Odoom, now an Associate Professor of Marketing in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. George Acheampong, has also been promoted to an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
