Al-Waasiu Abubakari: The UG graduate with 3.97 FGPA

A Muslim student, Al-Waasiu Abubakari, has been celebrated by the University of Ghana during its graduation ceremony held on February 20, 2024.

Abubakari was selected as the valedictorian for the second session of graduation events for the 𝐂𝐨π₯π₯𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐒𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩π₯𝐒𝐞𝐝 π’πœπ’πžπ§πœπžπ¬ (CBAS). He graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Engineering, achieving an impressive FGPA of 3.97.

The UG’s Facebook post traced Al-Waasiu’s academic strides to his days as a contestant in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) to earning top honours in his region.

“His journey from Lassia-Tuolu Senior High School to the University of Ghana has been marked by determination and resilience. Overcoming limited computer experience, he leveraged his strengths in Mathematics and Physics, winning multiple awards, including the Alumni Prize for Best Level 200 Student in Sciences (2022) and the Sadhu T.L. Vaswani Award (Level 300).

“A true inspiration, Al-Waasiu’s story reflects hard work, adaptability and a commitment to excellence. Congratulations!” the post read.
