Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was present on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Alisa Hotel for a meeting of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The meeting was for a review of the party’s internal issues and also for the presentation of a post election 2024 national review report by the Prof Mike Oquaye committee.
Also present at the meeting was former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, national executives and other top party functionaries.
The committee was set up to conduct a post-election assessment across the country to identify what led to the NPP’s massive loss in the 2024 polls.
Bawumia lost the 2024 elections on the ticket of the NPPP to the then-opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). On Monday, December 9, 2024, Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa declared John Mahama the winner with a total of 6,328,397 votes.
Dr Bawumia received 4,657,304 votes in the election. The NDC achieved historic success by securing a huge majority in Parliament, further solidifying their victory.
