Prospective pilgrims seeking to embark on Hajj in 2026 will pay a fare of GH¢60,000. The announced amount is GH¢2,000 less than the previous fare of GH¢62,000.
Alhaji Abdul Rauf Tanko Ibrahim, Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, disclosed the new fare at a meeting that was attended by Hajj stakeholders, including members of the Ghana Hajj Agents Association.
He said that the decision to reduce the hajj fare was arrived at after extensive consultation with Muslim leaders. It was in fulfilment of the president’s pledge of further reducing the cost of hajj to Ghanaian pilgrims, he noted.
Also, Ghana’s Hajj quota for 2026 has been increased to 6,872 pilgrims with the possibility of increasing the figure to 10,000 pilgrims if necessary.
The price and quota announcements come days after Ghana participated in a Hajj preparatory meetings that were organised by the Hajj and Umrah Ministry of Saudi Arabia. About 75 countries participated in the month-long meeting held virtually in September.
The meetings reviewed preparations for the upcoming Hajj season and outlined key regulations and guidelines to be adhere to. It also provided a platform to address requests and enquiries of Hajj offices seeking ease and reassurance for pilgrims arriving from their respective countries.
