Ghana calls for immediate end to Sudan conflict, urges diplomatic solution

The government of Ghana has called for an immediate end to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, expressing worry over the devastating humanitarian situation caused by the fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, November 3, 2025, the government condemned the “atrocious effects” of the war, which it said has claimed countless lives, displaced millions, and left many facing starvation.

“The continued hostilities have left millions destitute and facing starvation, undermining regional security and threatening the progress made toward a peaceful transition,” the statement noted.

The government further reiterated that the crisis in Sudan has no military solution and urged both sides to cease fire immediately and commit to peace negotiations.

“Ghana stands in solidarity with the people of Sudan and reiterates its unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and democratic governance across the African continent,” the statement said.

The foreign ministry further stressed the need for “An immediate, complete and unconditional halt to all military operations nationwide and the immediate establishment of safe corridors for the rapid and unrestricted delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid to all affected regions.” It appealed to regional and global actors to stop providing any form of support that fuels the conflict and to respect the United Nations arms embargo on Darfur.
