Mahama appoints Dr. Issahaku Special Envoy to the Middle East

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku as a Presidential Special Envoy to the Middle East. This was announced via a social media post by Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Issahaku, a former governor of the Bank of Ghana, is one of three special envoys who met with the minister on December 2, 2025. He served as BoG governor between 2016 till 2017, having been appointed by President Mahama. He was replaced by former governor, Ernest Addison when the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government took over after the 2016 elections.

The other two envoys are:

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Presidential Special Envoy on Reparations; and

King Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, Presidential Special Envoy to the Caribbean.
