Sheikh Kamil Mohammed, deputy Imam of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’a delivered the Muslim sermon and prayers at the National Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service on January 7, 2026 at the Jubilee House.
The service was held to thank God for the first anniversary of the John Dramani Mahama administration since he took over the reins of office in January 2025.
Sheikh Kamil touched on five major topics that are summarized below:
Importance of gratitude to Allah – If you are grateful to me, I will surely increase you in favour and blessing
Cost of living – Merciful God had pity on his people and took us out of misery to the extent that things are better economically
Gratitude to the president – Seeking blessing for him and his lieutenants
Call for peace – The need to cultivate tolerance and fraternity. Chips in the issue of Muslim rights in schools. It is not going to help us… why is this division that is being sown among us? Let us be united and cultivate same in our kids.
Prayers for the president – It is an imperative as taught by the Prophet Mohammed and a reflection of ourselves as a people. Let is support the president. The politicians cater for the grassroots.
