President-elect John Dramani Mahama has named an interim National Security team according to a January 3, 2025 press release.
The announcement signed by an aide to the president-elect said the six-member team was to “oversee and coordinate national security issues pending substantive appointments.”
Former Minister for the Interior, Douglas Bani was named as chairman of the team. The only Muslim listed was a retired Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrisu.
Mahama is set to be sworn in on January 7, for his second and final term in office having won the 2024 presidential race by beating Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
