Shamima Muslim joins John Mahama’s trip to Burkina Faso

Shamima Muslim, a deputy presidential spokesperson, was part of President John Dramani Mahama’s recent trip to Burkina Faso.

During the March 10, 2025 official visit, Mahama held talks with the leader of the Burkinabe junta, Ibrahim Traore, stressing the need to boost ties and relations between the two countries.

Shamima was spotted during bilateral talks between the two groups. She was also prominent during the press briefing that followed the meeting.

Mahama’s visit to Ouagadougou was the third leg of trips to three West African neighbours who have left the regional bloc, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Mahama had met with Malian Junta leader Assimi Goita in Bamako on March 8, before jetting into Niamey to hold talks with the Nigerien junta, Abdulrahmane Tchiani on March 9.

In the two earlier visits, the presidential spokesman, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu was in attendance. Aside from Mahama, officials who attended all three trips included Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, presidential advisors Joyce Bawah Mogtari and Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (the latter is Mahama’s envoy to the Sahel States).
