Baba Jamal starts work as High Commissioner to Nigeria

Former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Baba Jamal has started his new diplomatic post as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, he is based in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a post on his Facebook wall on October 13, 2025, he wrote: “I began my work at the office with a meeting with the dedicated staff of the Ghana Embassy in Abuja, where I shared my readiness to collaborate closely in advancing our shared plans and objectives.

“I am fully committed to consolidating and strengthening the Ghana–Nigeria relationship, exploring new opportunities, and promoting our national interest through stronger diplomatic cooperation with the Government of Nigeria,” he added.

The trained lawyer and former NDC deputy General Secretary was part over the first batch of ambassador and high commissioners sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama.

“In line with our KPIs and the President’s vision to RESET the nation, I am determined to advance Ghana’s interests and further enhance the excellent relationship between Ghana and Nigeria,” his post added.
