Election 2024: Bawumia submits presidential nomination forms

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has formally submitted his nomination forms as 2024 presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Bawumia arrived at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the morning of Monday, September 8, 2024, to submit the forms which were received by the EC chairperson, Jean Mensa.

Bawumia was accompanied by his wife Samira, along with his running mate Matthew Opoku Prempeh and his spouse. The NPP General Secretary, Justin Koduah Frimpong and other allies of Bawumia were also in attendance.

After submitting his forms, Bawumia reiterated his calls for a peaceful process before, during and after the December 7, 2024 vote.

Other presidential aspirants also filed their papers today. The EC chair announced that they would now thoroughly vet the applications before announcing the list of persons who will make it onto the ballot paper come December 7.
