PHOTOS: Bawumia presents nomination papers to Chief Imam

Bawumia met Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu before filing his papers to contest the 2024 presidential elections on September 9, 2024.

In photos shared by the state-run Daily Graphic on X and Facebook, Bawumia is seen in three photos with the Chief Imam, in one instance handing over his forms to the respected clergy, in another, he is seen seated side by side the Imam and a third where he is kneeling in front of the Imam who is praying for him.

The other photo in the Daily Graphic post shows Bawumia in the presence of two pastors who are also praying for him.

The controversial Rev Victor Kusi Boateng / Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, secretary of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees is seen praying as he holds Bawumia’s forms, the same one the Chief Imam was seen with. There is also another Catholic Bishop engaged in the prayer session.

Iqra Today is unable to confirm which of the meetings preceded the other. Bawumia and his running mate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh along with top New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials have since submitted their forms.

He went on to address a gathering at the party’s headquarters after the submission of forms rallying the rank and file to do all it takes to ensure that the NPP ‘breaks the eight’ and win an unprecedented third term.
