No excuses, there will be no dumsor – John Mahama assures

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the commitment of his government to avert a looming power outage days after taking office for his second and final term in office.

Speaking at the 2024 Annual Jalsa (Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Pomadze, Central Region, the President stressed that a team of experts he had convened will ensure that the outage locally known as ‘dumsor’ is averted.

“There is a threat of power outages but my brothers and sisters, don’t despair. You elected us to solve the problems not to put the blame on anybody else,” President Mahama said.

He revealed that on Wednesday, January 8, he convened a stakeholders’ meeting to brainstorm and implement innovative strategies to stabilize the energy supply. “I can assure you of some of the ideas they have come up with. We will make sure that your lights stay on and that we do not have dumsor,” he stated.

About the 2024 Annual Jalsa

The 2024 Annual Jalsa, themed “Justice and Peace: The Essential Ingredients for National Development,” provided a platform for discussing how justice and peace can be harnessed to build a prosperous nation.

The three-day event was chaired by the Ameer and Missionary in Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Alhaj Maulana Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, who echoed the importance of justice in ensuring sustainable progress.

President Mahama praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their commitment to promoting justice and peace. He acknowledged their role in fostering unity and inclusivity and emphasised the need for collaboration between government and religious organisations to achieve national goals.

He called on all Ghanaians to support these efforts, emphasising that justice and peace are not just ideals but essential building blocks for a brighter, stronger Ghana.
