The University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd. (UGMC) has formally announced the resumption of duty of its new Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abdul – Samed Tanko.
Tanko, who is the immediate past head of the Cardiology Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, was appointed as the new CEO of UGMC a month ago.
“He takes over from Dr. Kwame Anim- Boamah. Huge congrats to Dr. Abdul- Samed Tanko for his appointment to the high office of CEO of UGMC,” the institution wrote in a post accompanied by the two men exchanging handing over documents.
According to Oxygen Health website, the new UGMC boss: “one of Ghana’s and Africa’s most distinguished healthcare professionals—blending exceptional clinical expertise, visionary leadership, and a rare depth of national service experience.
“As Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Cardiology Division at the prestigious National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Tanko has committed his career to transforming cardiovascular care in Ghana and setting new standards of excellence across the continent.
“He is widely recognized for his unwavering dedication to advancing cardiovascular medicine, strengthening health systems, and mentoring the next generation of health leaders.”
