Nigerian cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has disclosed that Saudi Arabia refused him the opportunity to participate in this year’s Hajj.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Sheikh Gumi stated that despite having the approved entry visa into the country, “For some obvious reasons, my views about the world politics, the Saudi authorities are uncomfortable about my presence in Hajj after giving me the Hajj Visa.”
He noted that he was back in Nigeria at the time of posting the message which also disclosed that Nigerian authorities had pledged to take up the matter with their Saudi counterparts.
The Kaduna-based cleric said upon his return, he was free to attend to his health and his farming activities.
Most pilgrims in the country were undertaking Umrah rites ahead of the formal commencement of Hajj activities. Nigeria is among the countries with the highest number of pilgrims.
