Read presidential statements on Bawku conflict

The presidency, on July 27, 2025, had reason to issue two separate statements on the raging chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.

Both statements, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, government spokesperson, detailed measures the government was taking to restore order in that part of the country.

The first statement noted among others that the military was set to be deployed to the region and that government still stood by the mediation efforts by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

It emphasized the government’s call for peace while stressing that everything was being done to return the area to peace.

The second statement confirmed the decision to evacuate students of two secondary schools in the conflict area following the shooting to death of three students.
